Man's Wrist Watch
Self-setting Radio-Controlled Watch
In 1842, Edward Howard started manufacturing fine clocks and watches in Boston. His wares were unmatched in both innovation and craftsmanship. He perfected the first stem-wound watch and many of his watch and clock movements rivaled Swiss watchmakers. The E. Howard and Co. Watch was the "Standard Railroad Watch" by which the nation timed its industrial transportation, and it was used by the BandO Railroad, Erie Lackawanna Rail Line and many others that helped build our nation's industrial might.
E. Howard and Co. Watches were the treasures of generations of jewelers, industrial barons, stationmasters and merchants. Anyone who demanded "Standard" time from an object of beauty and art. His clocks adorned markets, opera houses, schools, banks, and many other institutions. Even today, should you visit the Boston Customs House, The Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C., or the stately Jefferson Hotel in Richmond you can see his elegant timepieces keeping perfect time.
After over 160 years, as "America's Timekeeper," E. Howard and Co. Watches are still available, but with a new elegance and standard of precision. The E. Howard and Co. Watch of today is a super-precision "Atomic" watch with both a traditional analogue dial and a multi-function LCD that includes self-adjusting date. It is set automatically by radio signals from the Atomic Clock maintained by the U.S. Government in the National Institute of Standards and Technologies. It is accurate to within a billionth of a second over time.
